Sport Leadership and Officiating

This subject will explore the role a Sports Leader and the key skills required to coach Fundamental Motor Skill to Primary School students. The theory component will cover a range of coaching topics such as, the role and responsibilities of a leader, planning and implementing coaching sessions, safety and legal obligations, communication and group management. The particle component will allow students to take on the role of a Sports Leader and apply their knowledge and understanding.

The officiating topic will investigate rules and responsibilities of an officiator. Students will look at a range of different sports and develop knowledge and understanding of the rules.
The practical component will enable students to apply their knowledge into practice.
Students will be working in groups, teaching and coaching each other, and with local Primary Schools.

In 2012 the Year 7 Girls Volleyball team won the District Volleyball competition and went on the become Northern Metropolitan Region Runners Up.
Over the past six years SajaKhodr has represented the school at state level Athletics.

Mini Olympic Celebration

On Wednesday 1st August Preston Girls Secondary College held the Mini House Olympics to replace the Athletics Carnival that was cancelled in term 1, this coincided with the 2012 London Olympics.
This was to celebrate the conclusion of the Olympics for another 4 years we will hold our own version of the Olympics!

Activities included;

  • Physical sports and tabloid style activities
  • ‘BIG FUN’ inflatable rides, including:
  • Big feet
  • Inflatable Bungee
  • Inflatable Soccer
  • Sumo Suits and much more.

All year 7-12 students participated in the mini Olympics during period 2 – 4 on this day.
