Career Pathways
The Careers department at Preston Girls Secondary College adheres to the code of ethics of the Career Industry Council of Australia and provides a comprehensive career development program that supports students into careers from Years 7–12 and beyond.
Each individual student is encouraged to be aspirational in her career goals while exploring the self and the world of work. Participation in lifelong learning that supports these career goals is facilitated through Careers Education across the curriculum and via a range of additional programs, including:
- Vocational assessments and feedback information evenings
- Compulsory work experience including database and support
- Individual subject selection interviews into VCE
- Preparatory individual interviews for Year 12 students
- Year 10 Careers Day
- Guest speakers and tertiary course session
- Lunchtime group counselling and information sessions
- Industry presentations
- Change-of-subject interviews
- Subject selection and careers expo evening
- VTAC application support and assistance
- Assistance with interstate and overseas applications
- VET and SBNA applications and support for work placements
- Resume preparation and mock interviews
- Careers newsletter
- Support to parents by email, telephone, interviews, newsletters and information evenings.

Safe @ Work Safe@work is a health and safety program for secondary school students who undertake Work Experience or Structured Workplace Learning. Before commencing a work placement students are required to complete the General Module and the appropriate Industry module relating to their placement interest or their VET qualification |
